Product Sections | | | | Likeys.com was created in 2006 by Martin Like and Matt Morris, two modest performing, but very keen, athletes who enjoy the sporting challenge of things a little difficult and different but very much on the adventurous side. Likeys.com is an extension of that passion for challenge, with neither of us having the first idea of either computers or retail selling when we started the company - so the learning curve has been steep. Originally Likeys.com was created to cater for those passionate enough about extreme ultra racing in weird and wonderful climates such as the Arctic, Deserts and Jungles of the World. This has naturally seen us extend our range of products to where we are now catering to the wider sporting market including Mountain Marathons, Adventure Racing and to a lesser extent, triathlon and cycling too.
The Likeys company isn't just about selling top quality clothing and equipment. We also endeavour to put back as much as we can into the sports we love. |
| | March 2007 saw the inaugural 6633 Ultra (www.6633ultra.com). This is quite possibly the toughest, coldest, windiest ultra marathon on the planet. Organised by Likeys on a not for profit basis, this event challenges runners to race either 120 or 350 miles in the midst of Winter into the Arctic Circle in Northern Canada and to finish on the banks of the frozen Arctic Ocean. This race is certainly not for the weak. |
| !We also sponsor and very keen supporters of the annual Gobi Challenge Desert Race in Mongolia (www.sand-baggers.com) This 150 mile staged foot race is a no frills adventure that tests the athletes resolve across desert plains, monstrous sand dunes and deep ice gorges.
This is only just touching the edges of what we do and we aim to do in the not to distant future. | | | | Martin is one of the founders of Likeys, a company that was created back in 2006. Having given up his professional career as a Partner in a firm of Chartered Surveyors due to tiring of the ever increasing bureaucracy that now seems to prevail in the UK, Martin decided to pursue a career that he is far more passionate about. Known by many around the World as the "Little Fat Welshman", Martin has tackled some of the most demanding ultra marathons that exist including races in the Saharan desert, Jordan, Alaska, Northern Canada and the Amazon Jungle. Prior to wobbling around these various extreme ultras, Martin in his youthful days used to compete at International level in Canoe Slalom and mixed into all this he also does a few Triathlons, with a particular interest in the longer distances and the occasional road marathon. Outside of sporting interests Martin is also know to enjoy the odd cake or four. |
| | | | The other original founder of Likeys. Matt after many years of climbing the corporate ladder and at last finding a stable footing in the madness of house buying, mortgages, etc took only one conversation to decide to throw the new found security away to follow his dreams of being his own boss and working in a sporting environment. Matt primarily comes from a cycling background having forged a name for himself in both road racing and mountain biking, but in latter years this passion has seen him move towards triathlon and adventure racing. The madness of running around the Deserts over many days has rubbed off on him and to that extent he took part in the 2007 Gobi Challenge in Mongolia coming an incredible 2nd place in a very competitive event. Recently Matt has also take part in numerous Adventure races around the country, as well as his first (of many) OMM events competing in the demanding Long score class. In 2008, Matt will be leading a team from Likeys in a number of adventure races, where they hope to be competitive, but the primary aim is to enjoy themselves. |
| | | | The newest additions to the Likeys Team. Came under the false pretences of knowing a lot about computers, but is yet to convince us. However, what he lacks in computer knowledge, he certainly makes up for with his enthusiasm for all things sporting. Over the past number of years Barry has competed in many adventure races and triathlon, usually opting for the longer distances. In 2005 Barry completed the Marathon of Britain, a 6 day stage race through the English Countryside. For 2008 Barry will be joining forces with Matt in a series of Adventure races around the country and will also be returning for more hardship in the OMM event in which he competed for the first time this year. He also likes pie and chips. |
